From illustrations to AI visuals

From a young age began Willem Brader as illustrator in the advertising world and made a name for himself with his quick sketches and work ethic. Now he's going all out Artificial Intelligence tools such as Midjourney and ChatGPT. He brings his original ideas to life and combines them with existing visuals, creating almost a whole new dimension.

Willem got his first assignment as an illustrator because he was the only one willing to work all weekend long. His eagerness and ability to quickly create vibrant and appealing visuals allowed him to quickly make a name for himself in the industry. At one point there was someone from an agency sitting next to him almost every evening to develop new images with him. His hand-drawn - and later 3D - images were used in more than 250 campaigns. As a young boy he earned very well, all from his studio in his living room in the Bos en Lommer. He was involved in the design and graphic development of the first Albert Heijn hamster, which quickly became a national symbol of the "Hoarding!" campaign.

After many successful years as an illustrator, Willem started to focus more and more on 3D. At a time when hardly anyone could do it, he made animations for brands and mobile apps every week. Just relax from his living room where he had also started painting and sculpting. In the meantime, he worked on a broad spectrum of organizations ranging from Plastic Heroes to Panda Casinos.

At the beginning of this year, Willem started to delve more deeply into the emerging world of artificial intelligence and AI tools. He spent evenings exploring all the possibilities the tools offer because he saw the potential of AI to take art and creativity to new heights. With his passion for both technology and art, he embarked on a new journey, combining AI with his own artistic talent.

With his background as an illustrator and his perseverance, Willem has found a way to combine his own artwork with the possibilities of technology. He has gone through a fascinating process of exploring and utilizing the possibilities of AI within the context of art. Willem has already created many thousands of AI prompts in AI tools such as MidJourney and ChatGPT to create a new series of AI artworks.

By fusing traditional artistic expression and technological innovation, Willem has created something unique that pushes the boundaries of the imagination. By amplifying his creative vision with AI, he managed to add a new dimension to his artwork. Willem has created a number of images for our Waterproofmedia website that we can use exclusively. You can see more in the gallery on the site.

The possibilities with the AI images are enormous, Willem is now working on AI video where he tries to bring the characters to life with a range of new tools. He also uses his images in pitches for agencies and brands, both in video and in separate stills. We are convinced that we will hear a lot more from these energetic artists who never tire of learning new tools and applying them to their creative will.
